Back on a sunny Sunday in June, Thame held its first cycling sportive with three routes – a 13km family ride, an 80km/50m intermediate and 130km/80mile route.
The event was a resounding success with around 500 riders participating and £1,500 raised for local charities – equally split between Helen & Douglas House, Sharing Life Trust (Thame Food Bank) and Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
The event was sponsored by Thame Cars and ASM with support from Thame Cycling Club and Thame Town Council.
Event organiser Jeremy Crook of Thame Cycles said
“the event was a lot of hard work, but I’m delighted with the result. We plan on doing the same next summer, just bigger and better.”
The event attracted riders from as far afield as Cornwall and Scotland – with many more locals. So, we’re planning on doing the event again next summer with an expanded Thame Sportive event over the weekend of 13/14th June 2026.
