Lord Williams’s School are proud to announce the official reopening of their newly resurfaced astro turf pitch, which has achieved International Hockey Federation (FIH) certification, marking it as a top-quality facility for both school and community use.
The state-of-the-art upgrade ensures students and local groups can now enjoy a first-class playing surface, designed to support both grassroots and competitive sport. The new FIH certification also opens opportunities for hosting regional fixtures, tournaments, and development programmes, putting the school firmly on the sporting map.
Benefits for the Community
Thame Hockey Club, which trains and competes on-site, now has access to an elite-level pitch that will enhance player development, inspire younger members, and attract new talent.
With improved facilities, more community groups, junior teams, and social leagues can participate in sport year-round, increasing access to physical activity and social connection. The upgraded facility strengthens ties between local organisations, providing a safe, modern, and inclusive space for everyone.
A Lasting Legacy
Headteacher, Mr Dimbleby said: “This resurfacing project is more than just an investment in our facilities—it’s an investment in our students, our community, and the future of local sport. The FIH certification is a badge of quality, but the real achievement is in the opportunities it creates for young people and community groups to thrive.”
With the new pitch officially open, Lord Williams’s School look forward to welcoming students, local clubs, and community members to enjoy and benefit from the world-class facility for years to come.
