A new initiative is helping young people in Thame boost their confidence with maths while making learning fun. Thame Youth Projects has launched the Monday Maths Club, a free weekly session designed for students aged 11 to 15 (school years 7–11).
The club runs every Monday during term time from 5:15pm to 6:30pm at Thame Town Hall (first floor). Unlike traditional tutoring, the sessions are led by volunteers (all DBS-checked) rather than teachers, aiming to provide a relaxed and supportive environment.
The programme offers help with:
- Homework support
- Sums and basic calculations
- Understanding fractions
- Counting and estimating
- Angles explained
- Money and budgeting
- Percentages
Organisers hope the club will give young people the chance to improve their skills, ask questions without pressure, and gain confidence in areas of maths that many find challenging.
The best part? It’s completely free of charge.
Parents and guardians can book places by emailing [email protected] or calling 07442 256926.
