Local environmental group 21st Century Thame is raising funds to support ongoing projects aimed at increasing wildlife in Thame and the surrounding area.
Their initiatives include planting trees and hedges, assisting residents in making their gardens more wildlife-friendly, and installing habitat boxes for birds such as swifts, swallows, and owls, as well as for mammals like hedgehogs and bats.
The group also provides educational support for both children and adults, promoting the importance of preserving garden and communal spaces to support seasonal wildlife needs.
Current fundraising efforts will support projects such as community habitat box-building workshops, the Wild Things Trail activity available through Thame Town Council, and participation in local fetes and festivals.
Supporters include businesses such as Lucy Electric, BP Collins Solicitors, Lightfoots Solicitors, and Thame Town Council.
Residents can contribute by purchasing bug hotels or hedgehog houses made from recycled materials. Each purchase includes a free garden assessment to help make spaces more welcoming to wildlife.
