Last week was a busy week at the Town Hall, as Thame Town Council hosted over 300 students from Lord Williams’s School.
The Year 7 students were asked what they would like to see in the proposed Community and Youth Centre, how they would use the space and their thoughts on the building design. This data forms part of the council’s ongoing engagement on this project, and will be used to further develop plans and fundraising for the new centre.
The Year 7 students were also able to experience a council-style meeting by voting on the group’s preferred idea.
With thanks to Councillors Baines, Cowell, Dawson, Dollman, Dyer, Gilbert and McGarry, and Linda Newton of Thame Youth Projects for helping town council staff to facilitate these sessions with the students. Thanks also go to LWS Teacher Claire Sharratt for organising the timetable and logistics for this year group to visit the Town Hall with the support of other teachers, teaching assistants and senior students.
During the school’s off-timetable week, the Town Council also hosted Bea, a work experience student from Year 10, who was a huge support in collating the data from the Year 7’s activities as well as supporting Officers with social media and design work.
