Octocello is back again

Following two sell-out concerts in Thame, the eight-cello local group Octocello is once again bringing the unique rich sound of multiple cellos to a concert onSeptember 20th at 7:30 pm in St. Mary’s Church, Thame. The local group will be playing something for everyone, including arrangements of hits by Henry Mancini, Frank Loesser and S Club 7, together with classical favourites by Berlioz, Gilbert & Sullivan and Mendelssohn. Octocello will be joined by Winchendon Brass, a local brass quintet with a similarly wide-ranging repertoire.

Formed in 2020, Octocello came together after a rash promise in a doctor’s surgery! Since then, the group has given 4 concerts, all to capacity audiences, and have raised over £5,000 for MIND and Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

All proceeds from the 2025 concert will go to Mission Ukraine, a charity that delivers much-needed aid to the war-torn country (https://www.missionukraine.uk/)

Tickets are £15 (U16 free) and include an internal drink. They are available from The Book House in Thame, or directly from [email protected]

Death Cafe @ Thame Barns Centre
You are warmly invited to attend Death Cafe in Thame. at 7:30pm in room 1 of the Barns Centre, and held on the third Thursday of each month thereafter A Death Cafe is an informal gathering where people can discuss death over tea and cake. We’re aiming to normalise the topic of death, raise acceptance, and help people make the most of their lives by breaking the taboo around mortality. It is not a grief support group or counselling session. These sessions have no agenda, objectives, or themes, allowing for organic, group-directed conversations about anything related to death, from end-of-life planning to fears and feelings, fostering open sharing in a respectful, confidential space. Death Cafe is run on a not-for-profit basis but if you are able to make…
