On the weekend that saw May turn to June, Thame 1st XI travelled to Datchet and opted to bowl. Alex Browne (3-58) took out the top 3, but Kimber’s 100 put Datchet on course for a big score. Dinny Malan and Hassam Mushtaq took 2 wickets apiece, as the hosts set an impressive 369-9. Almost all of Thame’s top and middle order got starts in the chase. Player of the match Browne smashed 74 from 58, including 5 sixes, but it was in vain as Thame ended 283 all out. The 1s are 6th and host 3rd-place Slough next.
At Church Meadow, the 2nd XI hosted Waddesdon, won the toss and batted. It was a memorable day for Alex Tervet (144*) who scored his maiden senior century for Thame, sharing a dominant partnership with Harry Thomas (98) in 317-5. Pete Tervet (3-58) bowled well at the top as usual, but 104* from James led a strong Waddesdon effort in the chase. As it got closer, Archie Gardner (4-53) stepped up to bowl Thame to the win by 13 runs. The 2s rise to 5th and travel to 7th Middleton Cheney next.
The 3rd XI headed to Bletchley Town 2, where the hosts chose to bat. Chris Penny once again starred with the ball, taking 3-24 in Bletchley’s 206-5. Daniel Tervet (81) kept Thame hopes alive throughout, but lacked support until Jeremy Batty‘s 33 later on. However it wasn’t quite enough as the innings ended on 18 runs short. The 3s go down to 6th and host unbeaten leaders Bradenham next.
Thame 4s hosted Westcott 2 at Lord Williams’ School and put the visitors in. In a joint effort from the whole attack, wickets fell at regular intervals with Will Littlewood, Shay Reading and junior Lewis Yeung taking 2 each in 167-9. Difficulties with the bat continued for the 4th XI. Another junior, Harvey Leitch (13) was the only batter to reach double figures in 94-9. Still looking for that first win, the team go to fellow strugglers East Oxford 3 next.
On Sunday, Thame Women hosted Falkland. The visitors chose to bat and with good reason; Openers Scheiwe (182*) and Rider (128) dominated, with Caitlin Shaw taking Thame’s only wicket in 380-1. Shaw also hit 59*, with a returning Charlotte Harvey scoring 37, as Thame’s innings ended on 212-6. It’s now a pause in league action as the Super 8s start on Wednesday at home to Faringdon, followed by a double header at home on Sunday versus Oxenford.
