Comedy Stars Ahir Shah & Matt Winning Bring Fringe Previews to Thame

2nd June 2025

The popular Comedy @ The Players series returns to The Players Theatre in Thame with a special Fringe Preview Night, headlined by two critically acclaimed comedians: Ahir Shah and Matt Winning.

Fresh from his 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Award win, Ahir Shah presents his latest Work in Progress show. Known for his sharp wit, philosophical depth, and political commentary, Shah is a familiar face on UK screens, having appeared on Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News for You, QI, Mock the Week, and more. With a growing international fanbase and sell-out shows in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Montreal, Shah is hailed as one of the most exciting voices in comedy today.

Joining him is climate comedian and academic Dr Matt Winning with his thought-provoking and energetic new show Solastalgia – a term describing the emotional impact of environmental change. Winning, who lectures at University College London, has made waves with his unique mix of climate science and stand-up. He’s the author of Hot Mess and the host of BBC Radio 4’s Net Zero: A Very British Problem. His past shows have been praised as “hilarious, personal, and inventive” by Edinburgh Festivals.

This one-night-only event offers audiences in Thame the rare chance to catch two powerhouse performers before they head to the Edinburgh Fringe.
