The beginning of the month was quieter after the record demand for support over the Christmas period. However, as the month went on the demand picked up again considerably and during the beginning of February, is at a very high level. Here are the figures for January:
102 food parcels were distributed
These provided for 131 adults and 103 children
93% of these households were referred to us by one of our partner agencies
A growing trend is the number of households that we are being asked to support where, despite good advice, careful budgeting and checks that all entitled benefits are being received, their income is still well short of their outgoings each month. This is concerning but not surprising given the fact that benefits and many wages of those in work, have not risen in line with inflation. We therefore anticipate that demand for our foodbank support will continue at the current high level at least until the end of the heating season.
Tracy Sims, our new part-time administrator, is now well into her new role and is making a big difference to our ability to handle the foodbank operation. We are very grateful for her help.

Thame: Town Hall, Waitrose, Co-op, Sainsburys, St Mary’s Church, St Joseph’s Church.
Chinnor: Co-op store, Village Centre
Haddenham: Co-op store, St Mary’s Church, Morrisons, The Post Office
