Chinnor Rugby Club - New Players Welcome

Chinnor RFC caters for players of all ages and abilities, from our under 6s to  Veterans, and from the highly talented and fit 1st XV to their fun loving 4th XV.

Their 1st XV and Development squad have been announced and provides for those aspiring to play at the highest level in a national arena.

Their Senior & Youth rugby provision is for those within our local community who want to play competitive rugby in the Oxon/Bucks/Berks region in return for:-

* the sheer enjoyment of the game,

* the comradeship which the post-match activities and tours encourage

* a reasonably healthy lifestyle.

The Youth Section consists of  Mini and Junior teams, aged 6 to 18 who train and play on a Sunday mornings starting in September. The Juniors also train on Wednesdays. The Senior Rugby, which represents the traditional, grass roots section of the Club, consists of 3rd, 4th and Vets (over 35s) XVs who allegedly train on a Tuesday evening and play on Saturdays with the occasional evening floodlit matches for the Veterans.

These sections now have their own secretaries to ensure good communications throughout with Mandy Spencer taking on the Youth Secretary role, and Carol Bradbrook-Taylor becoming  Senior Teams’ Secretary.

Player recruitment is also looking promising with a number of ex 1st XV players joining the amateur section of the club. The 3rd XV Team (Wild Boys) and the ‘Vets’ are at the heart & soul of Chinnor’s grown up ‘minis’, most having been with the club for 20 years + They have enjoyed great success these past few seasons in the local Bucks/Berks/Oxon league and the County Vets floodlit Cup. The following season the NCA/RFU will provide more flexibility for 2nd, 3rd and 4th XVs to play in higher regional leagues like South 1.

The 4th XV play regular ‘friendly’ fixtures. This is great for those who are new to the game or can only play occasional rugby. Our Veterans XV cater for the more mature 35+ age range. Contact 3rd XV Captain George White, 4th XV Captain Ben Rowe or Vets captain Steve Bridges via their website ‘Contacts’ for more information about Tuesday evening training, playing, socialising and touring.

Player recruitment at all levels will be the key to our success, so do come along and join us.
