The Food Bank experienced heavy demand during the winter months but the number of residents now being supported have dropped significantly during April and this shows every sign of continuing into May. This is good news if the level of need is really going down but they are ready to respond to any upsurge in numbers as the post lockdown situation develops.
In March 71 food parcels were delivered providing food for 91 adults and 85 children;
65% were referred by one of our partner agencies
In April 54 food parcels were delivered providing food for 57 adults and 70 children;
72% were referred by one of our partner agencies
The Community Larder meets at Christchurch every Thursday afternoon and there are now 67 members who are able to collect a wide range of supermarket surplus foods and fresh fruit and vegetables each week.
