This week marks the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of Citizens Advice. The national organisation was set up on 4th September 1939- the day after the Second World War started. Initially, its aim was to help families affected by the war, separation due to family members joining the services and helping families who had been bombed out and were homeless. Since then the organisation has grown and there are now 250 Citizens Advice offices across the country.
Not only is it the national organisation’s 80th anniversary but it is also Thame Citizens Advice 40th birthday. Thame CA was based in various locations until we moved into the Market House in 1995 when Princess Anne opened the offices.
A few years ago they made the dramatic change of name from Citizens Advice Bureau to … Citizens Advice!
