We have received a report of some children falling ill after swimming in the river near St Mary’s on Wednesday. The Environment Agency has been notified.
Back in April, several members of Thame Town Council attended a meeting regarding the state of our river. After the meeting, Cllr Martin Baines wrote, ‘Although there are many factors that affect the quality of river water – farm chemicals and road drainage are high on the list – the worst offender is spills of raw sewage.’
Although the exact cause of the children’s sickness is undetermined, we would advise children (and others) to exercise caution before swimming in the river. #riverthameconservationtrust#thameanglingclub#thame
