Thame Fire Station’s crew are reminding local residents to abide by the ‘ROAD CLOSED’ and ‘FLOOD’ signs on the road from Kingsey to Haddenham (under the railway bridge). If the signs have been moved by other drivers, or blown down, then make the sensible decision on seeing the visibly FLOODED road not to attempt to cross. It is much deeper than you might realise as this particular section of the road under the bridge dips.
Thame Fire Station crews have attended this location twice in the past 24 hours and multiple times in the past few months.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue service has PDAs (pre-determined attendance) on certain incidents. A rescue from flood water means that three fire engines and an officer in a fire car will arrive on scene. A huge amount of fire service resources, that then can’t respond to other incidents.
Your car will not be recovered by us. We’ll just rescue you and if it’s walkable (low enough) you’ll be getting your feet wet! We’d only use the rescue sled in certain special circumstances.
Please do not attempt to drive through the flood at this location. Even if you don’t call it in as an emergency, passers-by (from the train or road) may do so.
