Big news from Thame Youth Cafe

Thame Youth Cafe have some exciting news to share with you.

“Well.

Don’t we have some massive news for you all today.

Thame Youth Projects Group has been running since 2012. Since that time our aim has been to do all that we can to support the young people of Thame. And last week we took a massive step in advancing that work.

For the last few months we have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on some fairly big projects which are now coming to fruition and to public knowledge. And we are really excited about them.

Thame Town Council, at their last council meeting, agreed three years of funding to go towards employing a full-time youth worker for Thame Youth Projects Group. This youth worker would continue the work of the Youth Cafés and also be looking at developing outreach work to meet and support as many young people around the town as possible.

The councils money goes a long way towards helping us raise all the funds we need and we are working hard to bridge the gap. We have secured money from SODC Community Safety Partnership, and are exploring other sources of long-term funding as well.

Together with the council we are also putting together a working group in which we will be exploring the much needed idea of a permanent premises for young people in Thame.

This is all huge news. But it does mean a lot of work! We are working hard, we will keep you updated & keep your eyes peeled for further updates as and when we have them. We won’t be able to tell you everything, as some bits of information will be sensitive, but we’ll tell you what we can, when we can.

We’re so grateful to Town Council for their support, and for everyone who has worked so hard to help us get to this stage. This means so much for the future of our work with young people in Thame and we are super excited for what the future holds.”
