Thame’s final pre-season game ends with a win

Uxbridge 1-2 Thame United

It was a windy afternoon at the Honeycroft in Uxbridge.

It ended with some tired bodies out there at the conclusion of this one.

Thame secured a win in their final pre-season game ahead of the league opener next Saturday as way at Beford Town.

Thame opened the scoring within the first minute when West flighted a ball over the defence onto Mepham on the left who brought the ball down before firing it into the top of the net.

Thame then defended deep and struggled to create chances and were often found offside when attacking.

In the 38th minute centre back Mapley stopped a one on one opportunity with a sublime diving tackle. From this turnover in possession Thame were able to get the ball upfield to West who calmly netted the ball to make it 0-2.

In the second half Murray was adjudged to impede the attacker with his hands. This led to a penalty which was placed to the left side of Hill.

It was a great day for Thame #1 Hill who proved the difference in this one with first class saves time and time again.

As always there is always room for improvement but to finish with another win and continue the unbeaten run will give the side confidence.
