On Wednesday 1st May, eight school’s competed in the Year 5/6 Thame School’s Sports Partnership Year 5/6 boys’ football tournament at Tetsworth Green.
The schools involved were Aston Rowant, Barley Hill, Mill Lane, St. Joseph’s, St. Andrew’s, Cuddington & Dinton, Tetsworth and John Hampden who brought two teams.
Tetsworth made it out of their group by winning 3 matches against Aston Rowant, Barley Hill and John Hampden as well as drawing 0-0 against St. Joseph’s. They took on 2nd placed St. Andrews in the other group, in the semi-final where they drew 0-0 before going to penalties. Emil Ponte and Alisdair Milne both scored their penalties before Theo Dewson saved a St. Andrew’s penalty and Jermaine Muponda scored the winning penalty.
They then faced Cuddington & Dinton in the final where they won 3-0 with goals from Evan James, Alisdair Milne and Jermaine Muponda.
This is the first time that Tetsworth have ever won the trophy which began in 2005, with captain Evan James lifting the trophy.
