CHINNOR are determined to bounce back when they make the trip to Old Elthamians on Saturday.
The Thame-based side were unable to make it three wins in a row last weekend as a gritty defensive display helped Rotherham Titans earn victory at Kingsey Road.
Chinnor have slipped to seventh as a result, but are only three points off second-placed Rosslyn Park in what is already looking to be another competitive National League 1 season.
The frustration and disappointment was clear to see last Saturday, but backs coach Ricky Khan has been pleased with the players’ attitude as they look to avoid a repeat.
“We’ve been doing a lot of analysis from the weekend,” he said.
“Myself, Dan (George, head coach) and Matt (Williams, director of rugby) have got a strategy of what we will do.
“Some of the players have come to us and said ‘ok, we could do A, B and C better’, which is obviously what we want to hear.
“We’re not sitting back on our laurels and that’s the most important thing.
“We’ve got to go to OEs this weekend, which is a tough place to go.
“We’ve had some great battles with them over the years and it’s important for us to try to get another away victory.”
Khan added: “We’re massively disappointed with the weekend and losing to Rotherham the way we did.
“We did get two valuable bonus points, but really it’s a game we should have won and obviously we’ve got a lot to work on to try to put that right.”
Captain Carl Kirwan is expected to return to the side after sitting out last weekend’s fixture against Rotherham.
