Late drama but Thame go home empty-handed

Goals –

Berkhamstead – Toomey 7, 23 and Farrelly 68

Thame United – Mealing 42 (pen) and Goss 90+1

 

Well what drama to finish! Thame had a shot cleared off the line in the dying seconds. Thame showed real fight until the final whistle in this one but just run out of steam and time.

Berkhamstead took control early on with a brace for Toomey with goals in the 7th and 28th minute. He looked threatening throughout the first half and was unfortunate not to net a hat trick in the second half.

Thame were awarded a penalty late in the first half. Mealing stepped up and slotted it down the middle of the goal to get Thame back in it on 42 minutes.

 

The second half was full of drama and end to end action. Thame had multiple chances but could not find the second goal to get back in it.

Berkhamstead were prepared to play on the counter as they had their noses infront. They scored their third on 68 mins from a corner kick. Whereby Farrelly was able to get away from the defender and head the ball into the net.

This match saw the return of Thame’s Goss who looked lively and netted a  goal in injury time.

 

Thame may have not come away with any points but should be proud with the effort and have proven we can go up against the top sides in the division.
