Meet Thame’s newest shop…… the Jollybrew Tea Company.
Jollybrew will be opening its doors to customers some time in May and is based at 1 East Street, where Fitch and Fellows used to operate. The shop will be mainly retail based, but there may be a takeaway tea service.
Read how Greg, the owner first started Jollybrew below:
“It all started just shortly after I had been made redundant from my job. At the time my wife, Sarah, and I had just had our second child, so Sarah sadly was forced back to work early after spending just 5 months at home with a new baby. A difficult time for the family, but from that tough period in our life I ended up turning a passion into a business.
Deciding to stay at home as a full time dad, I looked at my options to start a side line business and there was only one thing on my mind, tea. After trying loose leaf tea for the first time there was no turning back. I remember thinking to myself ‘Loose leaf tea was the way forward.’ I was fixed on making it my mission to introduce Britain (and beyond) to the wonderful world of loose leaf tea. After a lot of research I didn’t come up with that many loose leaf tea companies, except for of course the major brands, so I decided to take the plunge.
In November of 2014 we launched the first of our blends (15 in total) and the response was excellent. As to date (January 2017) we are now up to 50 blends and will be looking to introduce many more in the not so distant future. I simply wanted to create something a little different and with emphasis on Britishness.
Our blends are created by our team of specialist master tea blenders who we work closely with and around 30% of our flavours are blended by my own fair hands here in Bucks.
Anyway, that’s our story. It’s not too exciting but this journey has been. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we have had, so a huge thanks to everyone who has helped get Jollybrew to where we are today.
Time for a cuppa.”
