The London and Home Counties Section of The Showmen’s Guild and Thame Town Council have great pleasure in announcing the signing of a new Three year Agreement to run Thame Fair and Thame Charter Fair. The agreement covers 2018, 2019 and 2020.   The Guild have thanked Thame Town Council for being understanding, accommodating and constructive through the various meetings to negotiate the Agreement.   The Town Council is pleased to build on the previous close working partnership to ensure the continuity of a town tradition for the community to enjoy.   Both parties are looking forward to the Town Fair opening for business/festivities on Thursday/ Friday/Saturday 20-22 September 2018.  The October Charter Fair will return on Friday 12 October and Saturday 13 October 2018.

Waterperry Gardens provides the ideal backdrop for a solo show, and this Autumn Jenny will be showing more than two dozen recent sculptures there at SuperNature III. There aren’t many female blacksmiths, and there aren’t many metalworkers of any gender who regularly produce work that stands three or four metres high. But then Jenny Pickford is an unusual artist. Originally studying in fine art, she switched to learning blacksmithing at Hereford College because she wanted to work on a larger scale. Today she’s recognised internationally as one of the country’s leading artist-blacksmiths, with a signature style that combines forged steel with blown glass to make fluid, organic shapes of recognisable plants with leaves, stalks and flowers … and they’re spectacularly oversized. “I love the technical…
